Freezer Burn - Volunteer to be a Ranger!
Want to walk around the festival and meet interesting people?
Want a fancy radio to listen in on all the insider chatter? Of course you do!
Getting into Rangering is easier than ever before, cuz we streamlined this process just now. It’s a video training from the comfort of your own home. That's right, just watch a training video specific to our regional Burns, and attend a brief in person meeting at the event on Thursday to go over some likely scenarios.
Yup, it's that easy. And we need you! This is especially a great chance for people new to the event to really get the most of it. Think of it as a guided VIP tour to meet interesting new people while in the company of your Ranger teammate.
This video training does away with the bulky Black Rock Ranger training to streamline it for our own Regional. It’s a quick training video on Udemy, to which you will have to make a free account here: https://www.udemy.com/course/rangering-101/
Then send a screen shot of course completion to learangers@gmail.com. You will get a digital copy of the Alberta Ranger Manual to check out. Nice and easy prep so far, now the fun part! On site Thursday June 20 at 5pm at First Response we will do a short brush up on radio etiquette and role play a couple possible scenarios. Bring your dramatic acting skills to roleplay a participant needing Ranger assistance!
Additional information:
*If you have already registered with us to complete your Ranger training, but have not started the Black Rock Training, we will accept this as an alternative*
This Udemy video was made by Ranger Jelly Doughnut for a Florida Regional called “Love Burn” and this training “checks all the boxes”. This training is also part of the BC Rangers training program, so for those interested in Rangering at BITF or Overworld, this will give you a head start. Please complete all quizzes in the course.
What’s next, you sassy keen folks?
For 2025 and on we plan to make a Freezer Burn Specific online course just to bridge any gap between what we do, and what is explained in Ranger 101. However, this will not be ready for Freezer Burn 2024, but intend to launch for next year, because next year is always better. Rather do the in person training before the event? You’re not too late!
Current scheduled dates are Saturday June 8, in Calgary. 1pm to 5pm. We will go over the Ranger manual and practice radio use and scenarios.
To register for either of these in person training dates contact us at learangers@gmail.com
